As all of you know, the 10th anniversary of 9/11 was on Sunday September 11, 2011. This is a difficult time for all Americans, and it's kind of difficult to understand it. September 11, 2001, is important to our nation’s history. What happened on 9/11? Semptember 11, 2001, is when 19 men hijacked 4 planes. They crashed them into The Twin Towers (2 planes), The Pentagon (1 plane), and the other plane was headed for Washington D.C. but heroes on board made it steer off course, and it crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
Why did the terrorist do this?
They did this because they basically hate America. President Bush said "They hate us for our freedoms." They despise the USA because of its repeated interference with the Middle East and the amount of western influence in their culture and religions.
Past & Present
In the past, (2001-2010) there was no memorial for 9/11. Why didn't they start building it a long time ago? Its because there were a lot of disagreements about the design and it took them a long time to get all of it built and get all of the names (a little over 3000 peoples names) engraved onto the walls.
Victim Story
This story is about a man who was involved in 9-11-The event that changed America forever.
9-11: A man named Chris and a man named Bob took a cab with their luggage downtown. It was a beautiful sunny day. Dry and cool compared to the oppressive heat and humidity Monday. They arrived at WTC I at 8:00. David and Arthur were to meet them at 8:10 and their meeting was scheduled for 8:30. He remembers Chris and himself standing, having coffee in the lobby and watching hundreds and hundreds of people stream in to the elevators up to their perspective floors. Just as they had done time and time again. Only today, this was the last time anyone would take an elevator up in the Trade Center. They commented on how many people there were. It was amazing to watch…
David and Arthur arrived. They cleared security and proceeded to the elevators. Once on the 39th floor, they met their hosts from Lehman Brothers and walked to the conference room. Once the pleasantries and introductions had been made they settled down to a business conversation.

Within moments there was a horrible explosion. Then a nanosecond of silence and total stillness. If you have ever seen an explosion (CNN, Fox News, Vietnam, Middle East) you see the fire explosion, but if you look closely, you will see the ring of high-energy escape faster than the fire. They knew the feeling from having been a Combat Engineer in the Marine Corps for four years. This was a huge explosion. Twenty-five years later and he knew exactly what had happened! He could feel the energy percussion literally flow down through the building.
A moment later, the building began to rock violently back and forth. They all raced out of the conference room. He left his belongings behind. People began shouting “earthquake, earthquake…” He was sure the building was going to topple over. Tables, chairs, doors, computers, etc… all started to open and close, fall off tables and shake uncontrollably. He watched many people attempt and try to run to the stairs and he thought to himself: “Do not panic! Don’t move yet. If the building is going to fall, I can’t possibly run down 39 flights of stairs and get out before it goes over… and if the stairs collapse, we’re all done! Just wait and access the damage. DO NOT PANIC!” He wanted to be in an open place so he could move. He managed to crawl/walk close to the farthest windows facing the East River and get to his feet again… he knew he was going to die. They all scrambled out of the building. He was one of the survivors. But many people died and suffered loss.
